Up Close with Grantville’s Quokkas: A four-person, keeper-led encounter at Maru Koala & Animal Park.
Set within Maru Koala and Animal Park in Grantville, the Quokka Experience is an intimate, keeper-led encounter that admits just four guests per session. For about fifteen minutes each day a keeper guides participants into the quokkas’ habitat so visitors can sit among them, hand-feed and gently touch the animals should they choose to interact—and learn the individual names and personalities of each quokka.

Extremely limited access
Only four people are admitted to each session, creating a quiet, close-range encounter rather than a crowded spectacle—every visit unfolds differently depending on how the quokkas choose to interact on the day.
Guided insights and individual stories
A keeper accompanies the group into the habitat, sharing facts about quokka behaviour and introducing visitors to each animal’s name and personality.
Hands-on feeding and photography
Participants are provided with favourite food items to encourage close approach; you may hand-feed and gently touch quokkas if they choose to engage, and you are free to take unlimited photos on your own devices.
What the day feels like
What the experience feels like
The session moves quickly but deliberately: a keeper-led introduction, entry into the quokka habitat where guests sit among the animals, then close-range observation, feeding and gentle interaction if the quokkas permit. It’s a short, focused encounter that prioritises animal welfare—every day plays out differently according to the animals’ choices.
