The part from downtown to the Tongue Point area is great, lots to see: downtown businesses, Maritime museum, pier 39, river views and wetlands. It seemed to peter out along the trolley tracks to uniontown and the port area. Maybe I missed something?

Limited unpaved parking at trailhead. Narrow roads to get to parking. Suggest parking in town rather than trailhead. Signs and trash can at trailhead. A few benches along the trail. Views of ships and birds. Trail follows unused railroad tracks for 1st 1 1/2 miles. Tracks after that point are used by tram. Leashed dogs are allowed. See other rules in photo of sign.

Beautiful! Always love walking this trail when I'm in Astoria. Walks you right into the downtown, too, where you can stop in for coffee, lunch, shopping, etc. Breathing the fresh ocean air is my favorite, plus the view of the hills, ships, and bridge add to the unique aspect of this river trail. Sometimes, you can see and hear the seals. Note: please throw trash away; so much trash gets left on the side of the path at times.
