This was a very accessible trail, easy to follow, and it was extremely well maintained. Its about six miles from the trailhead to the top and around three thousand feet of elevation gain. The gain is real and I could see it being a challenging hike for novice. There were a lot of different types of mushrooms but not much to view until the top.

Trail up to mount Mitchel was great. Variety of terrains from rocky to piney trails. From parking lot up to the summit, it’s about 6 miles. About 50 parking spots in the lot. As of 7/4/26, the campground at the trailhead it still closed (so no bathrooms). It took me less that 3 hours to get to the top and ability 2 hours to come back down. At the summit they have a cool lookout, visitor center with bottle station and restrooms. Climb is pretty steady and fully shaded. For the average person I would rate it hard but if you’re in decent shape it would prolly be more moderate.
