Such a beautiful trail/valley/hike! Easy (for Colorado) and just gorgeous.

An absolute must visit in Crested Butte gorgeous views for minimal effort! ​If you’re looking for a trail that gives you that quintessential Colorado mountain magic without requiring hours of grueling elevation gain, Woods Walk is hard to top. It’s located just right outside of town, making it insanely convenient whether you’re looking for a quick morning stroll before grabbing coffee or an easy afternoon cool down. ​The trail itself starts out winding through these massive, quiet groves of towering aspens. In the summer, you get lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers lining the path, and in the autumn, the golden yellow canopy is completely unreal. As you keep walking, the forest opens up to huge, postcard worthy views over Peanut Lake, the Slate River Valley, and sweeping vistas of Mount Crested Butte and Gothic Mountain in the background. The path is mostly dirt, flat, and wide enough to easily walk alongside a friend or family member. Plus, if you’re feeling like getting more miles in, it seamlessly connects right into the Lower Loop trail network so you can extend your trek as far as you want. ​A few friendly reminders for visitors: Because this trail is so accessible and stunning, it sees a lot of love from all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be sharing the trail with hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers. Just remember to practice good trail etiquette, keep right, pass on the left, yield to uphill traffic, and keep an eye out around blind corners in the aspen trees! ​It’s also a fantastic spot for dogs, but please be a responsible pet owner! Make sure to keep your pups under control, pick up after them immediately, and most importantly, actually pack the poop bags out with you to a trash can instead of leaving them on the side of the trail. Let's all do our part to practice Leave No Trace so this incredible spot stays pristine for everyone to enjoy. Can’t recommend it enough! 🌲🐕⛰️

This trail is easy to walk. You can decide how far you want to go in. We saw woodpeckers and lots of flowers.

Pretty and easy trail. Still some wildflowers left 2nd week of July. Some sections you are very exposed to sun so bring protection and stay hydrated. Would probably be gorgeous in the fall with so many Aspen trees.

If you’re looking for an easy hike close to CB that still has great views and lots of wildflowers, this is the one. The title is a bit misleading, the majority of the hike is not in the woods. But the first part is in some beautiful aspens. Lots of bikers to navigate.
