What an amazing hike especially once you get to the top! We started off accidentally going on trail 4 back to Sylvan Lake from the trail head so make sure you start at the correct side of the trail head. We also saw on the map that you can meet up with the trail for Cathedral Spires so instead of going all the way back to the trail head and driving to Cathedral Spires like our initial plan we just did both from the same trail. We definitely needed to stop to catch our breath a few times on the way up but that offered some great views! My kids ages 17, 14 and 11 did great and my 11 year old boy enjoyed the rock climbing at the end to get to the way top. My 17 year old girl has knee problems and getting to the top (and back down) was a bit of a challenge for her. This paired with Cathedral Spires was awesome and I liked it even better than Black Elk.

Great hike. It starts in the woods and you start your accent. When you reach the base, this is when the real fun begins. You have to scramble boulders and do a bit of mountain climbing to get through the passages up to the top. The view when you reach the top are well worth the journey.

Great hike, challenging towards the end as you have to climb some rocks, but it's doable. Start from Sylvan Lake as the parking lot is larger, follow trail #4 and you'll see a sign to follow at some point. On the way back down, you can take trail #4 to the left to go towards Cathedral Spires (9 km round trip). Stunning views, superb hike!
