Beautiful. It's two miles of switchbacks down to Cascade Creek (moderate) then a couple more miles along the creek to the Animus river. So about 8 miles round-trip. Scenic cliffs, meadows, aspen, etc.

This is an excellent trail. About 3.5 miles round trip. Drive 550 just North of Purgatory ski resort. Turn onto Tacoma Dr. Park at the small dirt lot at the lake (pond). The trail is easy, but quite scenic. It is downhill on the outbound half, ending at the Animus river. There are several spots along the way with amazing views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Save some energy for the return trip as is is mostly uphill, bit still pretty easy. Oh, yeah, tons of wildflowers this time of year. Great easy hike almost anyone can enjoy.
