Start the Trail near 550 & Tacoma Drive, there's a pond there you park by, then small walk back towards 550 to start the trailhead. It's a series of switchbacks (more detail on AllTrails) down, then flattens out into river valley where you can hike along/near Cascade Creek. We only did about 2 miles in, but was a nice hike with the Aspens changing and such. Potentially some great views when smoke haze or clouds aren't an issue. The hike back is mainly uphill so save some energy for that. We were rained/sleeted on the entire trip back, so bring a poncho just in case. I think this is also the trail that many take to reach Midway Depot for fly fishing (lots of mileage in), not sure though. Recommend this trail.

This is an excellent trail. About 3.5 miles round trip. Drive 550 just North of Purgatory ski resort. Turn onto Tacoma Dr. Park at the small dirt lot at the lake (pond). The trail is easy, but quite scenic. It is downhill on the outbound half, ending at the Animus river. There are several spots along the way with amazing views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Save some energy for the return trip as is is mostly uphill, bit still pretty easy. Oh, yeah, tons of wildflowers this time of year. Great easy hike almost anyone can enjoy.
