I have made the hike to the falls twice and both times were amazing. I came after it rained so there was a lot of water which made the views heaven on earth. It took me 2 hours to make it up to the falls and 1.5 hrs to make it back down. I had hiking sticks, hiking boots and plenty of water so I was prepared for the climb and rocky pavement. If considering this hike my #1 suggestion is make sure you wear the proper foot wear .. this hike is not a simple stroll in the park with a few inclines here and there…. I added a few photos but my pictures do not due it justice… it is absolutely amazing once you make it up there 10/10!

Only take this trail if you want to see Rainbow Falls. Don't go any further. The trail to Mt LeConte is absolutely in disrepair. If you're going to Mt LeConte, take Alum Cave trail or BullHead trail.

Hey if your looking for that challenge of an intermediate hiking trail here is your trail. Rainbow falls is a great hike with gorgeous views of the park. Don't forget the backpack with water and snacks you will be glad you brought it.

The hike was amazing! We took our two daughters (9 and 8) and it was god for them, too. Definitely bring water and snacks. Expect a good 90 minutes to get up. It’s quite steep and intense at times, but not too difficult for our kids. Leave yourself enough time to get back down, too. It’s much easier down, but it still takes a while to get 2.5 miles safely. There were lots of amazing views along the way. It’s a pretty well-maintained trail and the parking lot is fairly busy, but we found a place. We don’t regret tackling it—even though the girls complained at times.
