Gorgeous trail, even in winter. Lots of scenic views as you gain elevation. Moderately difficult, especially if there has been recent rain. The lower falls are pretty, but the top waterfall is well worth the journey up!

From the Rainbow Falls/Bullhead Parking A lot the hike to the falls is 2.6 miles and another 4 miles from the falls to the Summit of Mount Le Conte. As all trails in the area, the trail had been overused and you will encounter many exposed roots along the way. This area was ravaged during the Gatlinburg fires of 2016, as you will be walking through the recovering ecosystem. There are many dead trees still standing and fallen along the trail. The stream crossings are handled with stepping stones or footbridges. The beautiful falls is 80 foot high. Recommend starting the hike early in the morning as the small parking areas fills up quickly and you encounter fewer people. There are pit toilets at the parking area.
