Panoramic Views at Wildcat Rock Overlook

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Don’t let the easy start through the edge of the meadow fool you. Just over the creek it’s all uphill baby! What a climb up the beautiful switchbacks and well maintained stairs. First stop is Little Bearwallow Falls, a large rock face that sometimes has rock climbers scaling the angled slope. The falls themselves don’t flow real good, but it is probably due to little rain recently. It’s a good resting point before heading up and up the granite steps to the overlook. Nice view up there and quite a workout to get there!

Awesome trail. Nice workout getting to wildcat rock. The second half after that though is much more challenging. Worth the effort for the overlook though

It's definitely worth a hike. From the trailhead to the waterfall/ice climbing area is pretty easy. The rest of the way to the overlook is very difficult terrain. I would recommend leaving the dogs at home. Lots of big steps. Overall It's very well maintained by Conserving Carolina. There's not much water on the trail. I'd bring extra water. Poles are recommended as well. This hike would be longer but easier starting at Bearwallow Mtn.

Just off of the Wildcat Trail, about two miles from the trailhead, you climb a short but steep spur trail to the top of Wildcat Rock. There, the overlook provides an amazing viewpoint of the Upper Hickory Nut Gorge. There are these nice steps that lead up to the overlook. You do have to navigate around the rock to get to the view, which could be difficult for some, but the view is worth it!
