Jicaro Island Getaway: Paradise in Lake Nicaragua

The entire staff were very attentive and accommodating to the varying needs of our group. I enjoyed my visit on the island. The views were breathtaking, the hotel was very relaxing, delicious foods, kind staff and a beautiful location all with a focus on being eco friendly. I’d love to return for a longer visit in the future.

Our stay at Jicaro Island Lodge was nothing short of exceptional — one of those rare travel experiences that we will remember for many years to come. From the moment we arrived, the setting felt truly magical. The remote location, surrounded by nature and water, creates an extraordinary sense of peace and seclusion, while the beautiful and luxurious accommodations provide every comfort you could wish for. There is a wonderful understated elegance to Jicaro: refined and luxurious, yet completely in harmony with its surroundings. We visited as a family of six and were incredibly fortunate to have the entire island to ourselves during our stay. The absolute serenity and privacy made an already special place feel almost surreal — like having our own private island, while being cared for by an exceptional team. What elevated our experience most of all, however, was the service. We have been fortunate to travel extensively around the world, and the level of hospitality at Jicaro ranks among the very best we have ever experienced. Every interaction felt warm, genuine and personal. A very special mention must go to Byron, our waiter, who was truly outstanding. He is the epitome of exceptional hospitality: kind, gracious, attentive and extraordinarily service-oriented, while always remaining natural and unobtrusive. He seemed to anticipate what we might need before we even had to ask, and his warmth and genuine care made every meal and every interaction a pleasure. Byron didn't simply provide excellent service — he made us feel genuinely looked after, and he became an important part of what made our time at Jicaro so memorable. Jicaro Island Lodge is a remarkable combination of natural beauty, tranquility, luxury and heartfelt hospitality. For anyone looking for somewhere truly special — a place to disconnect, slow down and experience an extraordinary level of personal service — it is difficult to imagine somewhere better. We left feeling incredibly grateful for the experience and for the people who made it so special. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Jicaro team, and especially to Byron. We very much hope to return one day.

I had a truly amazing time during my stay on this amazing island. From the moment the shuttle picked us up at the border of Costa Rica, I knew that I loved Nicaragua. The highway was beautiful, Lake Nicaragua is massive and gorgeous, the Volcano Masada Could be seen from the resort, Just stunning. We were welcomed with some amazing rum and “grandma‘s tea” Cocktails, and The staff continued with amazing service from there. The food was so yummy, the Casitas were beautiful with all of their personal touches thrown in, coffee scrub Next to the sink and servings of Rum and assorted beverages were complimentary in the room. The casita itself was so charming, I’m going to be spoiled for any other island experience after that. I’m attaching a couple of photos, I loved sitting around the pool, and kayaking in the lake. If I could give it more than five stars I would. Thank you, Jicaro!!

My stay at Jicaro was magical. From the moment our group arrived, I felt welcomed. The staff were professional, friendly, and accommodating. My villa was just the space I needed to relax and read. I thoroughly enjoyed dozing in the hammock. The bed was also super comfy, and I appreciated that they provided a robe, toiletries, and complimentary drinks. And the property itself is just stunning. I enjoyed having a drink at the pool and watching the sunset. I also really enjoyed doing yoga on the yoga deck. And the food! The food was so delicious! If you are looking for a little piece of paradise, this is the place!

Our stay in Jícaro was an unforgettable experience: arriving by boat, the paddleboarding, the surroundings and the views of the Mombacho volcano, every single facility... the hotel staff's service was especially noteworthy: simply perfect and attentive to every detail. Without a doubt, it was one of the places where we felt most special during our trip to Nicaragua.
