It was my first hiking challenge in Hawaii. I was drawn to the description in the travel guide that while other courses were merely light strolls, this one required a bit of stamina. I called a taxi via Uber to get to the entrance. At the beginning, it is confusing to figure out which way to go. Fortunately, there was a team heading up ahead of us, so we just had to follow them. The ascent was steeper than I had expected. I was completely out of breath, and the ground was often muddy. Although the journey was tough, I felt great once I reached the summit. It was a little over 8km long and took about 3 hours.

Trail was awesome, just wouldn’t recommend bringing anyone to young or scared of heights with. Was a rough hike for some. View was pretty sweet.

Can someone help me out as I think we went really wrong. We parked up and followed the path but got to a sign saying , 'end of trail' so turned back to try a different way. Ended up pulling ourselves up a very steep climb that was in no way 'child-friendly'! We gave up after a while as we were worried about getting back down. How did we go wrong, the path didn't feel signposted!
