Slot Canyons of Pine Creek Gorge

Great destination! Enjoyed the open trail and peaceful outdoor atmosphere.

Park right after exiting the tunnel and you can head down into the slot and begin the first rappel. You will most likely need wetsuits. We came in March and had a couple of swims. Ps at the end of the canyon when you exit, you hike down the river and at one point you enter the wash. Don’t go up one marked trail, it’s very steep and you exit on the last hairpin, continue down the wash until you get to the emerald pools. Then you can take a break there swim in the pools and hike out to the second hairpin. Most likely you will need to hitchhike to your car at the start, since you can’t hike thru the tunnel.

I saw it from above while hiking the Pine Creek Canyon Overlook Trail, and the view was truly impressive. The deep, winding slot canyon cuts through the desert landscape with dramatic curves and narrow passageways, offering a glimpse into the power of erosion over time.

A classic Zion adventure. Even though permits can sometimes be hard to get and this canyon may be crowded, it is well worth the trip. It's best done when full of water, and last minute permits seem to be reasonably easy to get.
