About This Adventure Destination

Nestled in the heart of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland, Jungfraujoch Plateau is a spectacular destination that marks the 'Top of Europe.' Perched between the prominent peaks of Jungfrau and Mönch, this breathtaking area offers panoramic views of majestic snow-capped mountains and a grand glacier tracing its path through the valleys below. Known for its high-altitude adventure opportunities, Jungfraujoch delivers an awe-inspiring experience unlike any other in the region. Visitors are graced with the characteristic beauty of the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, stretching over the horizon. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a geological marvel, with its vast ice fields and surrounding rugged mountain vistas. The Jungfraujoch has been a sought-after destination for daring climbers and curious travelers since the establishment of the Jungfrau Railway in 1912, which ingeniously ascends through tunnels carved into the mountains themselves. In addition to its geological wonders, the area offers a glimpse into a unique alpine ecosystem and the opportunity to learn about the cultural heritage of the Swiss Alps. Whether marveling at its natural beauty from a train window or trekking across its icy expanse, Jungfraujoch Plateau captivates every traveler with its pristine allure.

Editorial Assessment

Jungfraujoch Plateau offers an unparalleled Alpine experience with its stunning landscapes and unique adventure activities, but it just falls short of the top rankings due to the widespread availability of winter destinations. Its accessible yet remote location keeps it an ideal choice for visitors.

Entry doesn't require much queuing; the main queue is for taking photos with the national flag. There are two Swiss flags available for photos, but when it's crowded, many people become disorderly. While everyone is queuing, some people like to block the way for photos or cut in line. You must stop these people immediately; this kind of queue-cutting is very bad! If you don't take photos with the flag, it's actually easier to take pictures. The platform offers a wide view, perfect for viewing the Jungfrau, Mönch, and Aletsch Glacier. However, this area is closed if the weather is bad, but there is an indoor wall with a picture of the Jungfrau where you can take photos.

It's lovely here, the view of Konkordiaplatz is beautiful. Especially in summer, it's a welcome respite from the heat. It is quite expensive, of course, but you don't have to come here every week.

The Jungfraujoch Glacier Plateau allows you to step directly onto the snow and experience the true alpine atmosphere of the Alps. The platform offers stunning views of the Aletsch Glacier, the surrounding four-thousanders, and, in good weather, even distant mountain ranges. The plateau is about a ten-minute walk from the station, but it's recommended to wear warm clothing, sunglasses, and footwear with good grip in the snow. This is one of the best spots on Jungfraujoch to take souvenir photos and briefly enjoy the vastness of the Alpine landscape.
