It offers visitors a rich combination of forested hills, clear waters, and rocky shorelines that create a distinctive outdoor atmosphere uncommon in the central U.S. This park is the largest state park in Missouri, encompassing more than 17,000 acres of rugged terrain and water.

At the center is the vast Lake of the Ozarks, a man-made reservoir, but the surrounding parklands feature numerous natural highlights. Towering hardwood forests and limestone bluffs contribute to the area's varied topography, while the shoreline provides habitat for abundant local wildlife like deer, eagles, and osprey. The park offers a well-rounded outdoor experience characteristic of the Midwest region’s water and woodland environments. This is a beautiful, quiet and well maintained park. If you go into town get back before dark! We got lost going back in trying to find our campsite, and there is NO lighting, its that secluded. Which is what makes it so awesome! The campsites are not crowded and not on top of each other like some places we have been. We were there 4 days and can't wait to return. The shower houses are clean and nice. Lots of wild life to enjoy, deer will wander right into your site during the day. They are not afraid at all. A gem of a park, can't wait to go back.
