Wonders of Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon

Peek-A-Boo and Spooky slot canyons is a great experience, especially Spooky was an unbelievable experience

Peekaboo and Spooky- The most fun hike we did! Great for strengthening family team work. We were all thrilled by this gorgeous adventure. We hiked with 16,14,9. Mid April, sunny day (was not too hot- about 1/4-1/3 of the hike is shaded). Got there with a Chrysler Pacifica (minivan) without a problem. Lost our way twice, so sharing our mistakes: once you get out of the narrows of Peek-a-Boo, you need to immediately turn right and walk on the rocky ground slightly uphill (do not continue on the sandy trail- that will take you north instead of east). Just follow the piles of rocks and the signs (they direct you correctly, although the signs do not specifically say Spooky). When heading back to the car on the upper dry fork, after exiting the slots, take the left slightly uphill road (and not the sandy trail to your right). Took us 4.5 hours on a moderate pace. Overall, an amazing experience to adventurous families!

Begin early to avoid heat and humans ... The general consensus is go clockwise - go up Peekaboo then down Spooky. This prevents bottleneck in the long, narrow sections and is the safer way to move through the accents. If you take the Upper Dryfork Narrows to access the other two, be aware there is A LOT of bird feces on the canyon walls and floor, there were also several dead rodents - be mindful of hands placement and of your pets. I recommend a harness if you bring a dog.
