High Rock Lake feels so special! It is the perfect blend of fun and relaxation. The “pace” of the lake it just perfect. The lake is large (one of the largest in North Carolina) so there are many places to boat to. You can boat to Goat Island and join the party or boat into a quiet cove and swim and float. You can jet-ski the main channel or take a quiet paddleboard trip into a quiet harbor and search for herons and other wildlife For those who crave a more active getaway, there is fishing, boating, kayaking, boat rentals, jet skis...Motor to one of the two boat-up restaurants, both full of local colorful flavor, often featuring live music and other events. For those wishing a quiet getaway, wildlife and bird watching is excellent (herons and cranes abundant)! Some beautiful fish have been pulled from this lake, which often hosts fishing tournaments. High Rock strikes that perfect balance of having enough to do, while also not feeling overcrowded. While you will see exciting activity on the weekend, (JetSkis and pontoon boats and motor boats and fishing boats) which lends the weekend an exciting pace, during the week, you will find lovely peaceful lake moments, watching the birds and the occasional boat or fisherman go by. Even storms are magical at the lake. Sitting on a dock or porch, watching the clouds roll in and then watching the lightning over the lake, truly magical!
