Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary: Jewel of Belize

Wir waren für eine Nacht dort. Traumhaftes, ruhige Anlage, zweckmäßig ausgestattete Zimmer, alles sehr ordentlich und vor allem top Personal. Sowohl die Zimmerdame als auch die Guides, vor allem Charles. Wunderbare Trails, toll in zwei Tagen zu bewandern und wunderschöne Djungel Flora und Fauna. Tipp: unbedingt die Nachtwanderung mit einem Guide vor Ort arrangieren.

We stayed for one night in the dormitory at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and had a fantastic experience. Initially, my girlfriend and I accidentally booked two dorm beds, but Rafael very kindly helped us switch the extra booking to a guided night hike, which we really appreciated. The dorm rooms don’t have fans, but there is a surprisingly good natural breeze flowing through the building, so it stays comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen facilities were also very clean and well maintained. The highlight of staying here is of course the incredible access to the park itself. We managed to fit in several hikes during our stay and while we didn’t spot a jaguar, we saw plenty of birds and several other small animals along the trails. We also did the guided night hike with Peter, which we would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting. It was a brilliant experience and a great way to see and learn about the wildlife after dark. Peter, Rafael, and Charles were all absolutely fantastic – engaging, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the park and its wildlife. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the sanctuary. Spending a night or two really allows you to enjoy the hikes and experience the forest both during the day and at night.

Had an amazing day visiting this preserve. We hiked Bens Bluff trail to a beautiful waterfall spotting gorgeous flowers and birds along a nice trail. Park and facilities were very clean and there is a small building that educates about the founding of the preserve and jaguars. Staff was super friendly and took the time to answer all our questions. While we didn't spot a jaguar, we had an amazing time here ....very worth the small $5/adult fee.

We went to the reserve to hike Ben's Bluff. The trails are well-maintained, the ranger was friendly and gave us all the necessary information, including safety details. The road there is bumpy, but by taking our time, everything went smoothly. There's a $10 Belizean entrance fee per person, payable on site. A picnic area is available.
