About This Adventure Destination

Mljet National Park, located in southern Croatia, is a stunning natural haven that captures the essence of untouched beauty. Known for its lush forests and striking turquoise lakes, it offers visitors an escape into tranquility and nature. The park features Veliko and Malo Jezero, two interconnected saltwater lakes that present a breathtaking turquoise hue.

Unique to Mljet is the lush Mediterranean flora, providing a home to numerous species of wildlife. Visitors might spot the elusive mongoose, introduced to control the snake population. Established in 1960, Mljet is one of the oldest marine protected areas in the Mediterranean and holds cultural significance with the ancient Benedictine monastery on the island within the Veliko Jezero.

Whether you're kayaking on the peaceful waters or hiking through the dense woodland, Mljet National Park invites you to unwind in its serene beauty. Experience this Croatian treasure and reconnect with the wild.

Editorial Assessment

Mljet National Park scores an 85 for its tranquil lakes, cultural heritage, and diverse outdoor activities. While spectacular, it remains less globally renowned than places like the Grand Canyon, hence slightly lower on the iconic scale. It's a gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.

The boats do a round trip, a small island, a small bridge, and back. It has a schedule..maybe the electric boat is better than the motorboat, but it goes according to the schedule.

No doubt about it: this place is stunning. But! In the harbor of Pomena we suffered an obnoxious party boat with ridiculously loud music, for HOURS (as in: 4pm until well into the night). How this is permitted in a delicate nature reserve (that we are paying 60€ a day for) is beyond me. It completely crushed the image of Mljet as eco destination. Party boats can go to Hvar, Split or, basically: anywhere else. You've got this amazing unique thing here, nurture it.
