Cascades of Ayikunugba: Nature's Hidden Jewel in Osun

Lovely afternoon spent visiting the waterfall which was a beautiful experience

It is not an easy journey to Ayikunugba Waterfall no be for mouth, my experience going there was a bittersweet one, why bitter if you are not careful you can slip off the stairs because you will get to a point, the stairs will be slippery and not stairs ray for you to hold and the stairs is so loooonnnngggg that I lost my count on the number of the stairs but no doubt that stairs is more than 100 blocks and some of the stairs blocks is kind of broken and looks somehow narrow at some point also before your leg gets to the next block it seems it is very high. Mehnnnn coming back na war, at some points our legs were wobbling and some of us were already crawling and struggling to climb up back although some group of guys were really giving helping hands to some of us who could not climb back again saying that they can't leave anybody behind. Then I said it is sweet also because of the experience, when we got there, it was fun dancing under the water, taking pictures and making videos of the place. We were told that we can't stay there when it is dark because they have wild animals coming out there at night so we got scared. Those familiar with the area said we should leave there as early as 6pm so that we can climb out from there on time before dark falls. We spent 20mins getting down to the waterfall then it took us 30mins minutes coming out. It was a very good experience. Sport men and women may not find it difficult going there anyways but ordinary person will not want to go back there cause those stairs were obstacle on the way to the waterfall. And hey if anybody fall off the stairs the person is a goner.

Okay the Waterfall is an Abandoned Heritage, in the sense that the facility is not well managed, and the facility am very much particular about is the staircase and the stair rails, A part of the stairs is very slippery, that we recorded a fall but no injury, And also the rails are beginning to detach and bend which is not serving the function any longer, But aside that the environment and waterfall is a site to behold, the climbing of 200+ 🥵 is likewise fun, If am opportune to to around that area I would visit the Waterfall again, But I would live to see the place well and better organised. This is located at oke-ila community. I boarded a bus to Ila. From Ila, I asked if I could get another bus to the location and people said it's only by bike to get there. So I boarded a bike to the waterfall and the journey took about 30mins plus to get there. It's not like Erin Ijesha where there is a gate, entry fee to pay, bikes waiting at the entrance or people selling at the entrance. I would say it's a deserted place because it's only bush from the entrance to the front of the first step. It's so lonely. Once the bike you come with drops and leave, there is no way you would see any bus or bike to transport you back. You would need to descend down 200+ steps before reaching the water fall. I couldn't get to the end seeing how deserted the place was.
