The Cathedral Rock Trail is a 1.2-mile round-trip hike categorized as moderate to strenuous due to its steep ascent and rocky terrain. The trailhead is located off Back O’ Beyond Road, just 10 minutes south of Sedona’s city center by car. Along the trail, hikers encounter slick rock surfaces and tight crevices, requiring some scrambling in sections. The ascent rewards hikers with breathtaking views of Sedona’s red rock formations, Courthouse Butte, and the surrounding Verde Valley at the top.

One highlight of the hike is the "saddle," a natural rock formation near the summit where hikers can rest and take in the scenery. The towering red spires, formed from millions of years of erosion, are a favorite subject for photographers.
