Lake Skadar, within the national park. Entrance to the park for boat tours costs 5 euros per person. The boat's number must be provided. We managed to rent a boat for four people for an hour for 50 euros. A break to catch our breath...

Lake Skadar is one of those places that photos can hardly show in all its grandeur. The landscape is beautiful - a huge water surface, green bays, reeds, water lilies, numerous islands and mountains in the background create a truly special view. I especially recommend a boat ride, because only from the water can you see how diverse and untouched this area is. In some parts, you feel as if you are far from civilization. Interestingly, Lake Skadar is the largest lake on the Balkan Peninsula and lies on the border between Montenegro and Albania. Its surface varies considerably throughout the year, as it largely depends on the amount of precipitation and water inflow. The Montenegrin part of the lake is protected as the Lake Skadar National Park. Another special feature of the lake is its extremely rich fauna. The area is one of the most important European habitats for waterfowl, the most famous of which is the Dalmatian pelican, one of the largest and rarest species of pelicans. There are many different types of birds living by the lake, and many types of fish in the water, so fishing has a long tradition here. Also very interesting are the small fishing villages, old stone houses, monasteries and remains of fortresses on the islands and along the coast. All of this shows how important the lake has been to people for centuries. The narrow water channels between water lilies and reeds, through which small tourist boats sail, have a special charm. Skadar Lake is not just a sight to look at and move on, but a place where it is worth staying for a while, taking a boat ride, observing nature and simply enjoying the peace. A wonderful combination of nature, history and a traditional way of life. Definitely worth a visit.
