Absolutely incredible experience! We came to Balmorhea State Park to scuba dive and loved every minute of it. The water was beautiful and clear, and there was so much to see — fish, crawfish, and even two HUGE softshell turtles hanging out in the grassy areas. They looked like little underwater dinosaurs and were easily the highlight of our dives. 😂 The spring-fed pool is such a unique place, and getting to explore it underwater made it even better. Whether you’re coming to swim, snorkel, or scuba dive, this is absolutely worth the trip. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

It was great, except that there was a rancid smell when I was swimming from the shallow part to the deep part. The diving boards are hard, they do NOT bounce. The ladder in the deep part only has 3 steps, so there is a huge drop from the 3rd step to the rock bottom. And when you are trying to get out, unless you are limber, you won't be able to reach up to the 3rd step easily. Fortunately for me, I can tread water very well and love to swim, so I swam across to the shallow part to get out. I like that they can now monitor the amount of people visiting the pool by buying the tickets on line.

This is an oasis in the middle of the desert. We had the 8-3 time slot and it wasn't busy at all. Got to dive down to watch soft shell turtles and watch cycling fish swim around
