Manido Falls: Slightly downstream, Manido Falls captivates visitors with its tiered drops and soothing soundscapes. Its width and constantly flowing water make it ideal for photography. A bridge nearby allows different vantage points, showcasing the serene but powerful flow of the river over smooth stones.

Nawadaha Falls: The third in this trio is Nawadaha Falls, upstream from the other two. Though smaller, it provides a quiet, peaceful setting with minimal crowds. A trail leads visitors past rich ferns and mossy rocks to this hidden gem, offering an intimate experience of Michigan’s wilderness.

The Presque Isle River’s name, meaning “almost an island,” reflects its unique geography as it meanders toward Lake Superior. Presque Isle is also part of the traditional territory of the Ojibwa people, and many names in the area honor their language and heritage. The waterfalls are considered culturally significant, making it important to respect the surroundings.

Best times to visit: May through October for accessible trails and full river flow. Autumn offers exceptional foliage views.
