This is not a tourist carousel: you take part in a genuine daily routine—running a working husky team and checking traditional under‑ice fishing nets—so the experience is practical, tactile and rooted in local traditions.
Drive Your Own Husky Sled
After a brief introduction to sledding, each participant drives their own sled for a roughly 20–40 minute leg, learning handling and teamwork with the dogs as part of the fishing journey.
Net Fishing Under the Ice
Guided by local fishermen, you learn winter net‑fishing techniques and try hauling nets by hand from beneath the lake ice—an elemental task where catching fish depends on nature and season.

The rhythm of the tour is brisk and intimate: meet at Neste Inari, move to the husky camp where teams are already harnessed, drive a sled across prepared or natural trails to the fishing site, work the nets under the ice, warm up with hot drinks and biscuits in the wilderness, then return by sled before a drop‑off back at the meeting point.

Layered warm winter clothing, insulated gloves, hat and scarf, sturdy waterproof insulated boots (extra boots available on request), thermal socks, sunglasses and a camera; personal medication and optional snacks. Notify the operator in advance if you need extra clothing or have dietary restrictions.

Is this a private tour?
Yes. Every booking is a private experience for your group only.
Do I need previous husky sledding experience?
No. A full introduction to sledding, safety and handling is provided before you start, and the guide assists throughout the ride.
Will we catch fish during the trip?
You will check fishing nets under the ice and try pulling up nets by hand, but catching fish is not guaranteed and depends on nature and seasonal conditions.
How cold does it get and how should I dress?
Temperatures can range from about −5°C to −30°C; layered winter clothing, insulated boots, gloves, hat and scarf are recommended. Extra winter clothing and rubber boots are available on request—notify the operator in advance.
Can children join the tour?
Yes—children aged 5 and older may participate; children under 5 are not suitable for this activity and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Is transportation included?
Yes. Pickup and drop-off from Neste Inari are included; hotel pickup can be arranged in advance for an additional charge.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If extreme weather (blizzards, temperatures below −30°C, or strong winds) makes the experience unsafe, the operator will offer a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Can I add a home visit and lunch?
Yes. For an additional €75 per person you can extend the trip by one hour for a home visit to a local fisherman’s house with a traditional homemade lunch.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 30 days before. 30% charge for cancellations 15–30 days before; 50% for 7–14 days before; no refund for cancellations under 7 days or no-shows. Illness exceptions with medical certificate allow rescheduling at no extra cost.
How far in advance should I book?
At least one day’s notice is required to ensure preparations, though earlier booking is recommended as availability is limited.
