Durango’s network of singletrack — from mellow aqueducts to classic local loops — is the terrain for Meraki Mountain Adventures’ Mixed Group Tour: a flexible, two- to three-hour outing that adapts to the skill and appetite of whoever shows up. Guides handle logistics, bike pickup and basic mechanical adjustments, and will tailor a loop that fits your group’s goals whether that means teaching technique on beginner trails or opening up more advanced lines.

THE ROUTE

Customizable runs across Durango’s trail options

Guides select from a roster of nearby trail systems — from the beginner-friendly Aqueduct Trail to local favorites like Horse Gulch, Overend Mountain Park, Twin Buttes and Dalla Mountain Park — tailoring the ride to your group’s experience and goals so you get the right mix of flow and challenge.

THE GUIDES

Instruction and safety from experienced, WFR-trained guides

Guides are longtime bicyclists who teach technique, perform on-the-fly repairs and prioritize safety; they are WFR-certified and bring professional instruction to help riders improve or simply enjoy faster, smoother laps.

THE LOGISTICS

Everything handled so you can ride

The tour includes transportation to and from lodging (within 5 miles of Durango’s center), pickup and drop-off of rental bikes and helmets from a local shop, daypacks, snacks at the trailhead and a water-topup jug in the vehicle — all arranged to minimize friction and maximize saddle time.

What the day feels like

What the Ride Feels Like

Expect a compact, purposeful outing: a short drive or group pickup, a quick bike fit if you’ve rented, and two to three hours of guided singletrack that can be slow and technical for learners or faster and looser for experienced riders. Guides intersperse instruction and brief breaks, carry spare supplies and snacks, and drop you back at your accommodation when the ride wraps.

Suitability

Who it's for

Who this tour suits — and when to choose a private trip instead.

1
Beginner RidersA strong match: guides can select the Aqueduct Trail and focus on fundamentals and technique. The tour is highly modifiable to keep pace and build confidence.
2
Intermediate & Advanced RidersAlso a good fit: guides can open up Horse Gulch, Twin Buttes or Dalla Mountain Park and offer coaching or freer laps depending on the group’s appetite for speed and technical terrain.
3
Families with Young ChildrenPossible but constrained: mixed-group tours ask that children be at least 5 and able to ride the tour duration; for families with slower or younger riders, a private tour is recommended so the guide can move at your family’s pace.
4
Visitors Tight on Time or Seeking AcclimatizationWell suited: the two- to three-hour format and moderate elevations (6,600–7,400 ft) make this an approachable ride early in a trip or as an acclimatizing outing before higher-elevation adventures.

Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

Do I need to be in excellent shape to do this tour?

No; the tour is highly modifiable to match your fitness. You should be able to carry a light backpack and your bike for the tour duration with multiple breaks — and you must accurately fill out the health profile on the registration form so guides can plan appropriately.

Is there a minimum age to join a mixed-group tour?

There is no strict minimum age, but for mixed-group tours guests are asked to be at least 5 years old and able to bike the entire duration; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For very young or slower children, book a private tour.

How does tipping work?

Gratuity is not expected but appreciated; typical tips range from 15–20% of the tour price for guides who provide safety, instruction and excellent service.

Can I rent a bike for the tour?

Yes — rental bikes and helmets are available through the partner shop; Meraki will arrange pickup and drop-off. The listed additional charge for renting a 2024 mountain bike is $40 (rental cost is not included in the tour price).

How does pickup and drop-off work?

Guides will pick you up from lodging within 5 miles of Durango’s city center; if you’re farther out, a meeting spot will be established. For mixed-group tours expect multiple pickup stops and please be on time so departures aren’t delayed.

Will I have water and snacks on the ride?

Guides provide a variety of snacks at the trailhead and carry a large water jug to top up bottles; guests should be prepared to carry roughly 2 liters of water capacity during the tour.
