Membership Access Over Ownership
Erie Community Boating is built to make recreational boating accessible: an active monthly membership gives you the ability to reserve community vessels so you can enjoy time on the water without the costs of ownership.
Reserve Sailboats, Kayaks and Canoes
Members may reserve a variety of community boats for use on Presque Isle Bay, choosing the craft that fits their plans for the day and launching from Bayfront Maritime Center during open sail times.
Skills Check and Ongoing Training
Before operating a craft independently for the first time, participants complete a scheduled skills check and orientation; Learn-to-Sail and refresher courses are available for those who want to build confidence first.
What the day feels like
What It Feels Like to Join In
The rhythm is straightforward: become an active monthly member, complete a one-time orientation and skills check with a Bayfront Maritime Center instructor if you intend to operate a vessel independently, then reserve available boats during designated open-sail sessions and head out onto Presque Isle Bay. Members show up, check their reservation with their Member ID, launch from the Bayfront Maritime Center, and spend time sailing or paddling without the logistics of ownership; operators should expect staff to adjust or cancel sessions when weather, water, staffing, or equipment conditions make it necessary.
