Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

Why can’t I reserve a rental for today?

Same‑day pickup is not offered; reserve for the following day and your gear will be in the shed at midnight.

Are there other rental companies in the area?

Yes — the Yosemite Conservancy and REI also rent gear in the area.

When can I pick up my rental?

You can access rentals anytime; all rentals start at midnight on the first rental day and the Rental Shed is accessible 24/7 so you can pick up or drop off at any time.

Where is the Rental Shed and how does it work?

The Rental Shed is to the left of the front door at the end of the sidewalk; it has a fully automated door, is under 24‑hour surveillance and your gear will be waiting inside with access instructions provided in the confirmation email.

What if something is missing or not working when I get to my campsite?

Check your gear before leaving the Rental Shed; if something isn’t working, call immediately—staff can help troubleshoot or arrange a replacement. Unreported issues at pickup may not be eligible for refund and continued use without notifying staff could result in charges.

Do you offer delivery or pickup services?

Not at this time; instead the Rental Shed provides 24‑hour access to your reserved gear.

What are the cancellation and late return policies?

Cancellations made 24 hours before the rental incur no fee; within 24 hours you will be charged the first day or 50% (whichever is less). Late returns incur additional rental charges but not separate late fees beyond the extra rental cost.
