Set beneath the rugged headlands of the Costa Vicentina, the Kids & Family Coasteering route threads sea caves, rocky ledges and sheltered swimming pockets along the Atlantic coast between Sagres and Lagos. Designed for children from eight years old, the outing pares back the more demanding sections of adult coasteering while keeping cliff jumping, scrambling and ocean swims at the center of the experience.

Highlights

Outing Highlights

THE JUMPS

Cliff jumping from 0–8 meters

A sequence of progressive jump sites lets children start with small drops and work up to bigger thrills; most jumps range from 0–5 metres, with one larger 8-metre option for the more experienced.

THE WATER

Swimming through sea caves and secret passages

The route includes sheltered swims in ocean water and brief passages through sea caves — part exploration, part play — guided and supervised by qualified instructors.

THE COAST

Easy climbs, scrambles and shoreline walking

This family-focused variant uses an easier part of the coast with more exit points and less sustained climbing, letting kids and adults move along the rock and shore comfortably between swims and jumps.

What the day feels like

What the three hours feel like

After gearing up in wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet and boots and a short safety briefing, the group walks down to the water and progresses along a sheltered stretch of coastline: short swims into caves, easy climbs and scrambles, and a series of cliff jumps that build from very small drops to higher, optional challenges. Guides assess conditions throughout, keep exits accessible and photograph the session for later delivery.

Suitability

Who it's for

Who this coasteering trip suits — and who should consider alternatives.

1
Active familiesIdeal: families with children aged 8 and up who enjoy swimming and playful climbing; the route is tailored to be fun while limiting difficult climbs and long swims.
2
Young thrill-seekersSuitable: kids and teens who want controlled adrenaline — multiple jump heights let participants progress at their own pace, including an optional higher 8‑metre jump for experienced youngsters.
3
Cautious swimmersMixed fit: the family route reduces exposure compared with the adult version (more exit points, less sustained swimming), but it still involves open‑ocean swims and cliff jumps — consider comfort in waves before booking.
4
Adult groups with kidsGood option: adults and teenagers will enjoy the route, though groups made up entirely of participants over 13 may prefer the operator's 'adults' coasteering for a tougher challenge.
