THE PLACE

Puerto Rico’s only outdoor climbing training at Roca Norte

Roca Norte markets itself as the only place where you can do climbing training outdoors, offering a focused environment for technical practice and conditioning.

THE PROGRAM

Tailored sessions for adults and kids

Sessions are tailored by age and objective: adults use the time to train mentally and physically and to complement other fitness disciplines, while kids’ sessions blend rock climbing, bouldering, hiking and other outdoor activities according to interest.

THE TRAINING

Short, focused blocks to build technique

Training blocks are compact and structured—you’ll stretch, warm up on easier routes, then work targeted climbing routes within the session time.

What the day feels like

What the session feels like

Over a minimum two-hour session you’ll move through a short stretch and warm-up, ascend warm-up routes, and then focus on target climbing routes; trainers adjust pace and objectives to the participant’s goals and experience level.

Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

Can I enroll in the training program without any rock climbing experience?

No. You are recommended to try the beginners service “Guided Climbing” first so you can decide if you want to engage in training sessions multiple times a month.

Is gear included in the training sessions?

Yes. Gear is included, though you may buy new gear if you prefer to use personal equipment.

How difficult will the training be?

Trainers adjust difficulty to your pace and goals; approaches vary depending on short- and long-term objectives and how the sessions complement other training.

How long are the training sessions?

Training sessions have a minimum of two hours, and that time includes stretches, warm-up exercises, climbing and rest time.

How many sessions can I have in a month?

You decide—sessions are sold in hour blocks (for example 6, 8 or 10 hours per month) and you choose dates/times before the hours expire within a 30-day period.

Is this training for beginners or more experienced climbers?

Both. The rock difficulty covers a range so climbers aiming to develop techniques in the YDS 5.8 to 5.12a range will find appropriate challenges.

Will I be with other people while I train?

Sessions are private or run with at least another person you may know plus your trainer; in some cases people with similar training capacities or goals may join the same session.
