Trips are five hours long and run twice daily (early morning and afternoon); the operator times outings to target the seasonal salmon schedule (kings in late May–June, sockeye in July–August, and silvers later in August–September).
Bring your Alaska sport fishing license if age 16 or older (and a king stamp when required), layered weather‑proof clothing, rain gear, hat and gloves as needed, food, drinks and water, sunscreen, bug repellent and polarized sunglasses. Alcohol is permitted but no hard alcohol or glass; gratuities are appreciated though not required.
The outing includes river boat and experienced captain, rods and reels, chest waders and boots, all flies, tackle and bait, and filleting of your catch.

How long is the trip?
Each trip is five hours in duration; the operator runs two trips daily (6:30–11:30 AM and 12:30–5:30 PM).
Where do we meet the guide?
Meet at the Pillars Boat Launch between the towns of Kenai and Soldotna; from Soldotna take the Kenai Spur Highway toward Kenai, turn left on Silver Salmon Drive, pay the parking fee and walk down to the launch and docks.
What equipment is provided?
Guides supply rods and reels, chest waders and boots, all flies, tackle and bait; boats are customized for Kenai River fishing and guides will fillet your catch following the trip.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes — anyone 16 years or older must carry an Alaska sport fishing license; if your trip includes salmon you will also need the appropriate king stamp where required.
Are gratuities expected?
Gratuities are appreciated but never required; a 15–25% tip is commonly suggested given the effort guides invest before, during and after each trip.
What should I bring for comfort and safety?
Bring layered, weather‑appropriate clothing with a waterproof shell, food, drinks and water, sunscreen, bug repellent and polarized sunglasses; avoid bringing glass containers and be mindful that hard alcohol is not allowed.
