Frequently asked questions
Planning Your Outing
Will we get to go inside the colleges?
You will go inside Trinity College if it is available (it is available around 90% of the time). If Trinity is unavailable, the guide will try to go into the Divinity School instead; all other colleges are seen from the outside only.
Can we go inside the libraries?
College libraries are only accessible to students. The tour goes into the courtyard of the Bodleian Library (Schools Quadrangle) but does not enter the Bodleian library itself; the Divinity School may be accessible on request as an alternative interior visit.
Are there any bathrooms on route?
The only public bathrooms passed on the route are in the Western Library, which is reached about 30 minutes into the tour; the guide may not be able to wait if other people are on the tour.
How often is Trinity College available for interior visits?
Trinity College is available to enter around 90% of the time, but college access can change at short notice.
What happens if Trinity College is closed?
If Trinity is unavailable the guide will attempt to take the group into the Divinity School instead; if that is also unavailable the guide will seek another suitable interior option but entry cannot be guaranteed.
