THE LANDSCAPE

Capcir’s 'little Siberia' and mountain lakes

The expedition takes place in the high Pyrénées around Formiguères and the Capcir plateau—an environment described as the 'little Siberia française'—with access to mountain lakes and the turbulent Lladure river used for multiple icy immersions.

THE EXPERIENCE

Intensive breathwork and repeated ice immersions

Across three days participants practice controlled hyperventilation protocols, learn the science behind cold exposure and respiration, and carry out successive immersions—designed to accelerate physiological and mental adaptation under guided supervision.

THE LEADER

A proven, high‑intensity pedagogy

Led by the founder of Icemind—an established coach and former national Wim Hof instructor—the format is framed as the operator’s most extreme Ice Expedition, with a strong group dynamic and post‑course access to a private tutorial group for ongoing practice.

What the day feels like

What the three days feel like

Expect a deliberately intense, adaptive program that blends guided breathwork sessions, tactical preparation for immersion, repeated cold plunges in lakes and rivers, and progressive coaching on advanced techniques; the schedule is intentionally flexible and responsive to weather and terrain, but the overall arc leads from introduction and immersion to consolidation and autonomous practice.

Suitability

Who it's for

Who this program suits — and who should look elsewhere.

1
Experienced cold explorers & athletesA strong match: the format is designed for rapid physiological and mental progression through repeated exposure and complex breathing protocols.
2
Curious beginners with a sense of adventureOpen to newcomers—many participants arrive without prior cold‑water experience—but expect an intense program that escalates quickly over three days.
3
People with limited mobility or serious cardiovascular constraintsNot ideal: these are the operator’s most intense expeditions; if mountain hiking would be difficult, participants are advised to opt for the stationary Ice Immersion in Paris.
4
Those seeking mental resilience and group transformationWell matched: the program emphasizes psychological coaching, group dynamics and long‑term routines to translate the weekend’s work into sustained practice.

Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

What are the exact dates and hours of the 3‑day expedition?

The standard 3‑day format runs from Thursday evening (arrival around 20:00) through Sunday, finishing at approximately 16:30.

Where do we meet in Formiguères?

Meeting point is the camping de la Devèze (Cami de Balcère, Route de Devèze, 66210 Formiguères), a small chalet/mobile‑home village a few hundred metres from Formiguères village and on the Lladure river.

What is included in the course fee?

All on‑site activities, the necessary activity equipment (e.g., raquettes where used), all meals and accommodation are included; participants cover their travel to Formiguères separately.

How do participants typically get to the site?

Groups commonly coordinate carpooling from Toulouse or Perpignan; attendees also arrive via train or plane to regional hubs and use group WhatsApp arrangements to organize the final mountain leg.

What sort of food is served?

Meals are hearty, locally sourced and adapted to recovery needs—prepared by a professional caterer (Laurence) who can accommodate vegetarians; examples include chicken, fish gratins, vegetable dishes, salads and baked breads.

Am I fit enough to join?

The expeditions are described as the most intense IceMind format; while many attendees arrive without prior cold training and the program welcomes a broad mix of participants, anyone for whom mountain walking would be difficult should consider the milder, non‑mobile Ice Immersion in Paris instead.
