Micro-navigation, pacing and bad-weather techniques
The program drills micro-navigation, pacing and timing, aiming-off and attack-point techniques, quick resection and basic triangulation so you can plan and follow multi-leg routes away from marked tracks.
Rugged mountain ground and off-path travel
Training progresses into more mountainous terrain and open ground without paths, emphasising practical skills for poor visibility, darkness navigation and locating smaller catching features on the ground.
What the day feels like
What the two-day course feels like
Over two days you will rebuild and extend basic map-and-compass habits into confident route planning and execution on rough ground: practicing pacing, timing and micro-navigation on short legs, then stringing those skills together into longer, multi-leg routes in complex terrain while rehearsing poor-visibility and emergency procedures.
