Paddle the Rangeley Chain and Nearby Rivers
Choose between lakes and rivers: Rangeley is the gateway to the seven‑lake Rangeley chain and nearby waterways such as the Kennebago and Cupsuptic Rivers, each offering sheltered coves, islands and long open stretches for exploration.
Large Rental Fleet with Flexible Launch Options
River’s Edge maintains a sizeable kayak fleet; you can pick up boats at the shop, launch from the store dock, or arrange delivery and pickup to your chosen put‑in.
Quiet Coves for Birding and Wildlife Viewing
Ponds and sheltered bays are prime for spotting common loon and mergansers, as well as cranes and herons—bring patience and time to let the birds approach the silence of a kayak.
What the day feels like
How the day unfolds
A rental from River’s Edge is simple and self‑directed: collect a tandem sit‑on kayak (or have it delivered), don the provided life vest, and head for a nearby inlet, island or river corridor. Paddling moves at your own pace—short island hops, long lake crossings or slow wildlife‑watching laps in quiet ponds are all on the agenda—making this a flexible option for families, birders and seasoned paddlers alike.
