Outing Highlights

THE ROUTE

A full‑day, 17 km paddle

The Tagestour covers 17 km of river with roughly five hours of paddling within a 7.5‑hour outing—AKTIV MÜHLE’s longest tour—giving paddlers a sustained day on water through changing scenery.

THE HISTORY

Pappenheim’s weir carry and old town pause

The route runs into the hilly Pappenheim area where a weir requires a short portage and offers a chance to stretch in a sehenswerte Altstadt beneath the local Burg—an obvious mid‑trip break.

THE CAMP & PAUSE

Zimmern beer garden and an island campsite finish

After a further stretch to Zimmern—where a riverside beer garden awaits (mittwochs Ruhetag)—the tour ends in Solnhofen directly below the last weir at AKTIV MÜHLE, beside the INSEL CAMP on an Altmühl island and the rustic MÜHLENWIRTS.

What the day feels like

What the day feels like

Expect a steady day on the water: launch from Treuchtlingen, paddle across open river sections into increasingly hilly terrain, negotiate a weir portage at Pappenheim, stop in small town beer gardens or the old town, then continue toward Zimmern and finally Solnhofen where the Kanuzentrum and island campsite provide a bucolic riverside end to the trip.
