About Świętokrzyskie Landscape Park

Świętokrzyskie Landscape Park is a protected area in south-central Poland known for its rolling hills, ancient forests, and rich cultural history, offering diverse hiking and nature observation opportunities.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Świętokrzyskie Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy Świętokrzyski) is a scenic protected area located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of Poland, centered around the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe. Established in 1983, the park covers a diverse landscape characterized by forested hills, rocky outcrops, and several small rivers and streams. The park's terrain offers a mix of deciduous and coniferous woodlands, including ancient beech forests and rare plant species, supporting rich biodiversity with notable fauna such as deer, wild boar, and numerous bird species. The Świętokrzyskie Mountains themselves are geologically unique, with exposures of very old rocks dating back hundreds of millions of years. History and legend permeate the park, most famously embodied by the Łysica and Łysa Góra peaks – the latter known for its Benedictine monastery at Święty Krzyż (Holy Cross), an important medieval religious site and pilgrimage destination. The park is highly valued for outdoor recreation, especially hiking and nature photography. Several well-marked trails run through the park, including the popular route up Łysa Góra, featuring panoramic views and cultural landmarks. Visitors also enjoy exploring the numerous caves, glades, and small reservoirs scattered throughout the area. The balanced mix of natural and cultural attractions makes Świętokrzyskie Landscape Park a favorite for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. It offers peaceful forest walks, birdwatching, and seasonal events tied to local folklore, nurturing a connection between visitors and the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
