Žemaitija National Park

Established in 1991, Žemaitija National Park is Lithuania’s oldest national park, located in the historical region of Žemaitija (Samogitia) in the northwest part of the country. Covering approximately 213 square kilometers, the park encompasses a mosaic of glacial landscape features, including 25 lakes, forests, rolling hills, peat bogs, and meadows. The park’s centerpiece is Lake Plateliai, Lithuania's largest natural lake, which offers crystal-clear waters and opportunities for fishing, boating, and swimming.
