About Kualoa Regional Park

Kualoa Regional Park is a scenic coastal park on the windward side of Oahu, offering beach access, picnic areas, and spectacular views of the Koʻolau Mountains and Kaneohe Bay.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located on the northeastern shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Kualoa Regional Park is a 50-acre public park known for its beautiful sandy beach, calm waters, and stunning backdrop of the Koʻolau Mountain Range. The park provides a peaceful setting ideal for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the sheltered Kaneohe Bay. The backdrop of lush, jagged cliffs that rise dramatically from the land offers both hikers and photographers remarkable scenery. Historically, the Kualoa area was once a sacred burial ground and an important site for Hawaiian fishponds, reflecting its rich cultural heritage. Today, the park serves as a recreational hub and a gateway to nearby cultural and adventure sites, including the private Kualoa Ranch, famed for movie productions and outdoor tours. The park features shaded picnic pavilions, open grassy areas, and restroom facilities, making it family-friendly. Its wide sandy beach is suitable for all levels of swimmers, and the gentle bay waters offer safe conditions. Visitors also enjoy fishing, boating, and viewing coral reefs teeming with marine life. The park’s setting at the foot of historic mountains and near ancient Hawaiian sites adds to its appeal. While there are no extensive trails within the park itself, numerous hiking options in the Koʻolau range lie nearby. The park is easily accessible and frequently visited by locals and tourists seeking a scenic place to relax and enjoy ocean activities in a natural environment.
