Nickajack Reservoir, part of the Tennessee River, was formed by damming the river near Jasper, Tennessee. Created in 1967 as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority's extensive network of hydroelectric projects, the reservoir covers approximately 10,370 acres. Providing both recreational and ecological value, its shores are lined with limestone bluffs and wooded hills.
