Abbotsbury Swannery Nature Reserve is located on the English Channel coast in Dorset, England, near the village of Abbotsbury. It is the world's only managed colony of nesting mute swans, with a population that can exceed 600 birds during the breeding season. The swannery spans around 80 acres of wetland, reed beds, and lagoons, providing a vital habitat for the swans as well as other wildlife. The reserve includes ancient lagoons created in the 11th century, shaped by the monks of the Abbotsbury Abbey, which support diverse bird species and aquatic life.
