Sulitjelma Nature Reserve is located in the municipality of Fauske in Nordland County, Norway, along the border with Sweden. Covering a mountainous and glaciated area, it includes parts of the Sulitjelma massif, known for its dramatic peaks and significant glaciers such as the Sulitjelma and Bjøllåga glaciers. The reserve encompasses a wide range of ecosystems, from lush birch forests in the lower valleys to barren alpine environments at higher elevations. The area has a rich mining history, mainly connected to the Sulitjelma Mines active from the late 19th century until the late 20th century.
