Spanning the border of Alabama and Georgia, Walter F. George Lake, also known as Lake Eufaula, is a man-made lake that provides a myriad of recreational opportunities. The lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of the Walter F. George Lock and Dam in 1963. Encompassing over 45,000 acres of water surface, it presents a playground for anglers with its abundant fish populations, including bass, crappie, and catfish. The surrounding woodlands and wetlands support diverse wildlife, making it a prime location for birdwatching.
