Located in Webb County, near the city of Laredo, Texas, Lake Casa Blanca International State Park encompasses approximately 525 acres surrounding Lake Casa Blanca, a 1,680-acre reservoir formed on Chacon Creek. The park’s landscape features rolling hills, grassy prairies, mesquite woodlands, and a mix of native brushlands, offering habitat for various species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and fish. The reservoir supports fishing and water recreation opportunities, while the park’s trails traverse scenic views of the lake and surrounding terrain. Established in 1991, the park serves both residents and visitors by providing beach access, boating, swimming, picnicking, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. Its location near the US-Mexico border gives it an international aspect, and the park acts as a natural escape within the semi-arid subtropical environment of South Texas. Wildlife commonly sighted includes white-tailed deer, bobcats, turkey vultures, and a variety of aquatic birds. The park’s fishing opportunities are notable for largemouth bass, catfish, and sunfish. Well-maintained facilities such as boat ramps, picnic areas, restrooms, campsites, and trails invite families and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy both water-based and terrestrial activities.
