Salt Fork State Park is located in Guernsey County, Ohio, spanning approximately 17,229 acres and distinguished by its large reservoir, Salt Fork Lake. The landscape features rolling hills, oak-hickory forests, scenic bluffs, and open meadows, providing rich habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and various songbirds. Historically, this area was important for salt production by Native Americans, which influenced its name. Established in 1960, the park has developed into a well-loved destination for families, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Recreation revolves primarily around Salt Fork Lake, which supports fishing for species like bass, catfish, and crappie. Boating and paddle sports are popular, with multiple boat ramps and a marina available. The park also boasts over 25 miles of trails, including hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian paths, with notable routes such as the primitive hiking trail and the multi-use trail system. Visitors can enjoy several campgrounds, picnic areas, and a large swimming beach during summer months. Additional attractions include the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center offering lodging and dining.
