Located in southwest Florida, Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge consists of more than 35,000 acres of coastal mangrove habitat. The refuge is part of a complex network of islands and waterways that extend from Everglades City to Marco Island. Established to protect the habitat and wildlife of Florida's coastal ecosystems, the refuge supports a wealth of biodiversity, including species such as the endangered West Indian manatee, green sea turtles, and the American crocodile.
