Hail Haor Wildlife Sanctuary

Hail Haor Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh and encompasses one of the largest natural wetlands in the region. This wetland system covers a mosaic of open water, marshes, paddy fields, and riverine forests, playing a vital ecological role in flood control and groundwater recharge. The sanctuary was officially declared in 1983 to protect the wetland ecosystem and its abundant wildlife. Its waters and surrounding vegetation serve as wintering grounds for tens of thousands of migratory birds, including various species of ducks, geese, storks, and cranes that arrive each year from Siberia and Central Asia.
