THE COURSE

Four open-water checkout dives over two days

The program completes your open-water training with four checkout dives across a two-day session (Sat/Sun), during which you practice, apply and demonstrate the skills learned in confined water and eLearning to earn the PADI Open Water Diver certification.

THE SITE

Lake Hydra — a re-opened quarry destination

Training dives take place at the newly re-opened Lake Hydra (formerly Dutch Springs), a premier local quarry site used for open-water checkout dives for New York City area divers.

THE CERTIFICATION

Earn a globally recognized credential

Successful completion awards the PADI Open Water Diver certification, qualifying you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet); dive centers and resorts will require proof of this certification before renting equipment, filling cylinders, or booking excursions.

What the day feels like

What the two-day checkout feels like

Over a compact Saturday and Sunday schedule you move from pool-based skills and eLearning into the quarry: four instructor-led open-water dives allow you to practice and demonstrate core scuba skills in a relaxed, supportive environment so you leave with the knowledge and credential to continue diving worldwide.
