THE BEGINNING

A True Beginner-Friendly Environment

This Fun Day is tailored for newcomers: lessons and activities focus on foundational skills so young skiers leave with a solid base to build on and the confidence to continue learning.

THE LESSONS

Progressive Instruction and Play

Instruction is delivered in short, focused blocks interspersed with breaks and games to keep learners engaged while they practise snowplough turns and basic control.

THE FUN

Tubing and Social Time

The day closes with tubing and organised play, giving participants a chance to enjoy fast, playful descents in a supervised setting after instruction time.

What the day feels like

What the Day Feels Like

The day alternates concentrated instruction with planned breaks and shared mealtimes: short lesson blocks keep attention sharp while games and tubing make learning kinetic and social. Instructors guide small groups through beginner moves — snowploughing and basic turns — in a supportive setting designed to build both skill and enthusiasm for the slope.

Suitability

Who it's for

Who this day is right for — and where to take care.

1
Young Beginners (Ages 7+)Designed specifically for children aged seven and older, the programme introduces core beginner skills in a paced, supportive setting so young skiers can build technique and confidence.
2
Parents and Guardians (Spectators)Spectators must remain in designated areas and are not permitted on any white ski or tubing surface; follow site signage and staff guidance to stay clear of active areas.
3
First-Time LearnersIf your child has never skied before, the short lesson blocks, games and tubing provide repeated, low-pressure practice — ideal for a first introduction to the slope.
4
Safety-Conscious FamiliesFamilies who prioritise structured instruction and clear site safety measures will find this format reassuring; participants and spectators must adhere to NSASC’s safety signage and staff directions.

Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

What happens on the day?

Please check in at reception in the main building when you arrive. All participants must arrive at least 15 minutes before their start time and will be introduced to their ski instructor.

What should I expect during the session?

Your instructor will be on hand to put participants at ease, deliver instruction and ensure learners make steady progress; listen to instructions and speak up if anything is unclear.

How long does it take to learn how to ski?

Learning rates vary, but as a rough guide it takes about 10 hours of lessons for adults to reach a recreational standard; children typically take longer to reach that same level.

Can a friend or family member teach on the slope?

No — the operator's insurer permits only qualified instructors to teach at NSASC, so private instruction by unqualified people is not allowed on-site.

When do Fun Days run?

Fun Days run during school holidays.

Can I pay on the day?

No. All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance.
