Timing & Season

Level lessons run every weekend from September to May; please note tasters do not run from May to August.

What to Bring

Waterproofs or a change of clothes if it’s raining; arms and legs should be covered (no short sleeves or shorts — tracksuit bottoms or leggings are fine); a pair of gloves; hair must be worn so a helmet can be fitted (no buns or ponytails).

Meeting Point & Duration

Meet at Newmilns Snow & Sports Complex; the lesson duration is 60 minutes. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time to check in and be fitted.

All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance; payment on the day is not permitted.

Planning Your Outing

What happens on the day?

Please check in at reception in the main building when you arrive. All participants must arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time. You will be introduced to your snowboard instructor.

What happens during the session?

Your instructor is on hand to put you at ease and make sure you get the most out of your lesson; listen to instructions carefully and speak up if you don’t understand. Group sessions can contain a mixture of ages.

How long does it take to learn how to snowboard?

People learn at different rates; as a rough guide it takes about 10 hours of lessons for adults to reach a recreational standard where they can snowboard from the top of the main slope, use the button tow and control their speed; it typically takes longer for children.

Can my friend or family teach me on the slope?

No. The insurer only permits qualified instructors to teach at NSASC.

When do the level lessons run?

Level lessons run every weekend from September to May.

Can I pay on the day?

No. All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance; payment on the day is not permitted.
